What…what…what…?!

Yesterday was A Bad Day. Not only did we witness the mockery that was the Ross/Brand affair descend to such depths of stupidity that now 27,000 people have complained and Brand has resigned…..

We also witnessesd the end of an era.

The end of one of the finest pairing of actor-to-role that has ever graced the small screen.

As he accepted his much-deserved National Television Award last night, David Tennant announced that after the 2009 specials he will no longer be The Doctor.

Stunned silence met that announcement in our household.

Followed by cries of “Noooooo!” and “He can’t!” and “There’s no-one gorgeous enough to take over!” (that last one from my missus, just to be clear…)

It’s a hugely sad announcement as I had really hoped he would do at least one full season under Stephen Moffat. But sadly it is not to be. Russel T Davies, who will leave the show at the same time, has said that Tennants exit would beĀ ”the most enormous and spectacular ending”, so I suppose we have that to look forward to.

But putting aside our grief for one moment, I do wish David all the success he truly deserves. he is such a huge talent and the world really is his oyster now. I can see him going from strength to strength and quickly becoming a global star.

And so, after the 4 specials, that will be it. Hopefully they will find someone to take over who can grow into another great doctor. Early front-runners are David Morrisey and Russel Tovey, neither of which I really know much about.

Perhaps the people’s choice is Stehpen Fry? I spotted a few people on Twitter last night asking him if he’d be interested.

Stephen’s response?

So there you have it! Or not…

No regeneration for Blogtor Who

Just read some really sad news. My favourite Doctor Who blog, Blogtor Who [here, for now], has shut down. the site’s owner,

It takes time to create all the audio and video here as well as sourcing stories and images so it’s incredibly galling for someone esle to take credit for it.

Well said! Whoever was doing this are really scummy.

So long Blogtor Who, you’ll be sadly missed.

Luckily, Cameron can still be found at his other equally great blog, Stuff on TV [here] and I urge you to go take a look.

How can Doctor Who get any better?

Each time I think they have made the best episode yet, they go and top it the following week. It’s very frustrating. I won’t rant and rave about how amazing Staurday’s epidose was, but IT WAS AMAZING.

Russell T Davies is really going on on a bang. The whole episode was threading together pretty much everything that has ever happened over the last 4 series and setting it all up for a spankingly fantastic 2-part finale, featuring pretty much everyone you would care to ask for in a Doctor Who finale.

I think it’s incredible that a programme these days can have everyone on the edge of their seats, from our friends’ little 3-year-old, to my 13-year old daughter, to me (36 and should know better) to my mum (somewhat older and should definitely know better!). Every generation loves Doctor Who and this episode showed exactly why.

I just hope – nay PRAY – that David Tennant stays on as the Doctor for EVER and that the writing continues to be of such a high standard when Stephen Moffat takes over the role of executive producer next season.

Anyway, go over to BlogtorWho and check out the trailer for next week, and be prepared to squeal :)

Doctor Who – Excitement abounds

There are really no words to describe how mush I love Doctor Who, and I’m not ashamed to say it. This series has been, in my opinion, the best so far since the “reinvention”. And what a climax it’s building up to be… Daleks, old companions, full-scale-mega-global-total-anihilation type scenario. Just to make us even more excited, Blogtor Who (my favourite Doctor Who blog) has got some promo pics for Saturday’s episode “The Stolen Earth”.

Warning, these are definite SPOILERS.
